Veteran Housing Assistance

VA housing assistance can help Service-members, Veterans, and their surviving spouses to buy a home or refinance a loan. Also VA offers benefits and services to help you build, repair, or keep your current home. This includes grants for Veterans with service-connected disabilities who need to adapt their home to live as independently as possible.

VA direct and VA-backed home loans help Veterans like you build, buy, improve, or refinance a home. You’ll still need to have the required credit and income for the loan amount you want to borrow. But a VA loan may offer better terms than with a traditional loan from a private bank, mortgage company, or credit union. For example, nearly 90% of VA-backed loans are made with no down payment.

To get a VA direct or VA-backed home loan, you’ll need a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to show your lender that you qualify for this benefit based on your service history and duty status. Find out if you can get a COE. Keep in mind that you’ll also need to meet your lender’s credit and income requirements to get a loan.
